In Brief: Salem Five to Add Wireless Access

SALEM, Mass. — Salem Five Cents Bank announced that it will offer wireless access to its online banking customers.

Metavante Corp. of Milwaukee is to give the bank wireless technology support. Metavante’s Wireless Banking service is intended to let Salem Five’s directbanking.com customers view balances and transactions and to transfer funds between accounts through mobile phones, pagers, or personal digital assistants. The bank gave no target date for the new service’s availability.

Salem Five, which had $1 billion of assets in October, has opened a branch office for its directbanking.com customers in downtown Boston.
