In Brief: Software Firm in Pact With Document Maker

Contour Software Inc. has formed an alliance with Greatland Corp. of Grand Rapids, Mich.

Contour said it would provide its software to Greatland, and that Greatland's state-specific electronic mortgage documents would be incorporated into Contour's loan-closing software.

Nearly 500 of Greatland's customers will be offered free use of Contour's software until their licenses and service agreements with Greatland expire. These customers may renew with Contour, paying the fees associated with the products they choose. They may also convert from Greatland's DOS-based programs to Contour's Windows-based, Y2K-compliant mortgage software. Contour president Scott Cooley said the deal will increase his company's customer base and market share.

This agreement marks the third time Contour has provided its software to another company. The other partnerships were with of Softbyte in 1994 and Roland Enterprises in 1996.
