The Atlanta banking company announced Wednesday that A. Markman “Mark” Peters would be an executive vice president and the head of private wealth management. In this role, which a bank spokesman said he will commence in the first week of September, he is to oversee international wealth management, the sports and entertainment banking group, personal asset management, and SunTrust Investment Services, including the SunTrust Insurance Group.

He succeeds Mimi Breeden, 55, who was promoted to corporate executive president and director of human resources in March.

Mr. Peters, 49, was a managing director and the head of U.S. private wealth management at Deutsche Bank. Previously, he was a managing director and the head of the U.S. high-net-worth group at Citigroup Private Bank.
