In Brief: Texas Aide to Lead Credit Union Agency

WASHINGTON — The National Credit Union Administration has named J. Leonard Skiles executive director.

In his new post, Mr. Skiles is to oversee day-to-day operation of the 1000-employee agency that regulates federally chartered credit unions. He had been director of the agency’s Austin regional office for two years. Mr. Skiles previously was president of the agency’s asset management and assistance center based in Austin. He joined the agency in 1973 as a staff attorney and was deputy general counsel from 1975 to 1980.

He succeeds Carolyn D. Jordan, who resigned last month, an agency spokeswoman said.
