U.S. Global Investors Inc. said on Wednesday that it plans to start a Global Emerging Markets Fund today.
The portfolio is to be available directly from U.S. Global Investors or through several omnibus platforms. The company is to manage the marketing to, and customer relationships with, investors in the United States, and Charlemagne Capital, which also subadvises U.S. Global's Eastern Europe fund, will manage the portfolio.
The new fund's objective is to seek long-term capital growth through investments in emerging markets, including Hungary, the Czech Republic, Mexico, South Africa, Poland, Chile, Israel, Korea, Taiwan, and Malaysia.
It is to be modeled on Charlemagne Capital's Magna Global Emerging Markets Fund, which is available only to investors in Europe.
U.S. Global manages $2 billion in 13 no-load mutual funds.
