In Brief: Visa Picks 'Grinch' For Holiday Program

SAN FRANCISCO - Visa U.S.A. said its promotion this holiday season will revolve around around the Dr. Seuss classic "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."

To kick off the promotion, Visa is teaming up with Universal Pictures and Universal Studios consumer products group for the Thanksgiving release of the film "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," from Imagine Entertainment.

As part of Visa's agreement with Universal, it will have the rights to place "Grinch" logos and imagery on its credit, debit, gift and stored value cards.

The campaign, "Visa and the Grinch Give Back the Holidays," will include national television advertising, online promotions, merchant usage programs, cardholder statement inserts, and signage at the point of sale.

"Our partnership with Universal Studios and 'The Grinch' is designed for one purpose: to uniquely capture cardholder interest during a time of year when hundreds of brands are vying for attention and share-of-voice," said Becky Saeger, executive vice president of brand marketing at Visa.
