In Brief: Web Site Firm to Buy Net Payment Business

The merchant Web site developer iMall Inc. has agreed to buy San Francisco-based Pure Payments Inc., a provider of Internet payment services.

"For the first time, the entire process of setting up a commerce-enabled store on the Web is seamless and occurs in real time without the usual delays and interruptions," said Richard Rosenblatt, chairman and chief executive officer of iMall.

The company has been the largest customer of Pure Payments, which was formed last summer by three former employees of First Data Corp.'s Internet commerce group. First Data last year made a $14 million investment in iMall.

"We have worked with many payment gateway solutions over the past four years, and no one came close to Pure Payments' ease of use, reliability, security, and performance," Mr. Rosenblatt said.

Pure Payments' 15 employees would join iMall's staff of 130.
