HSA Bank, a division of the Webster Bank subsidiary of Webster Financial Corp. in Waterbury, Conn., announced that its new-account total for the health savings account product has already surpassed the total for all of 2004.

The bank division has opened more than 46,000 accounts this year, it said on Thursday. It had 116,000 accounts at June 21, according to an article in Inside Consumer-Directed Care, an industry publication, which said that was 35,000 accounts more than the next-biggest administrator. HSA Bank also has more than $200 million of deposits, nearly three times the next highest total, it said.
