Intrust in Kansas Taps Insider as President

Intrust Bank in Wichita, Kan., has promoted its longtime chief operating officer to become its president.

Jay Smith will succeed Charlie Chandler, who will remain the $4.3 billion-asset bank's chairman and chief executive, the Wichita Eagle reported in its online edition Wednesday. Smith joined Intrust in 1991 as vice president of finance before becoming the chief operating officer.

"As time has gone on, Jay has taken on greater and greater responsibility for a variety of areas," Chandler told the Wichita Eagle. "This was a natural progression."

Intrust has 48 branches in Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. The bank earned $8.9 million last year, according to a regulatory filing.
