Jackson Hewitt Gets Boost from Prepaid

Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc.'s reloadable prepaid iPower card lifted the tax-preparation company's revenues from franchise operations in its fiscal first quarter, which ended July 31.

Last week the franchise operations reported first-quarter revenue of $4.5 million, up 15% from a year earlier.

"The increased revenues versus last year's first quarter primarily resulted from the use of the Jackson Hewitt iPower card," the Parsippany, N.J., company said.

Jackson Hewitt customers can load their paychecks and government funds — such as unemployment, Social Security, or veterans benefits — onto the card.
