Joint Hearing on Lending Is Rescheduled

The House Financial Services Committee and the Small Business Committee have rescheduled for Feb. 26 their joint hearing on the state of small business and commercial real estate.

The hearing was prompted by lawmakers' frustration that banks have curtailed lending. Bankers have countered that loan demand is down and there are fewer qualified potential borrowers.

The financial services panel also said it will hold its semiannual hearing on monetary policy on Wednesday, and a hearing on executive compensation on Thursday.
