KeyCorp to put cards on Interlink system.

KeyCorp said Tuesday that it had joined Interlink, the electronic debit-card system owned by Visa U.S.A.

The Albany, N.Y.-based company said it would issue cards with the Interlink logo within six months.

The cards could be used to pay for goods and services with funds electronically deducted from user's checking accounts.

KeyCorp also said it would expand its participation in Visa Debit, an off-line debit card program.

KeyCorp now offers Visa Debit in four of the eight markets in which it operates. The company has branches in Alaska, Idaho, Maine, New York, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. It plans to make the card available in New York and Maine by January.
