Lending Website Creates Honor for Sofia Vergara

Sofia Vergara, who left last night's Golden Globes empty-handed, received another honor over the weekend.

Go Banking Rates on Sunday named the Colombian-born actress its "Best Celebrity Saver." The Los Angeles company, which pairs borrowers with favorable rates, called the star of the ABC comedy "Modern Family" an "excellent financial role model" for three reasons: she saves money, makes smart investments and collaborates with others on financial projects.

Among other things, Vergara co-founded Latin World Entertainment in 1998 before her U.S. acting career exploded. Go Banking Rates estimated that the venture earned about $27 million last year.

"The Golden Globes bring together the most admired celebrities in television and film," said Casey Bond, Go Banking Rates managing editor. "I think it's important to take this opportunity and point out the positive examples many of the nominees set when it comes to managing money."

Efforts to reach Vergara through Latin World Entertainment were not successful.
