Goldleaf Financial Solutions Inc. announced that Slidell, La., has licensed its Merchant Remit image-lockbox system to process municipal payments.
Slidell, a city of 25,000 on Lake Ponchartrain between New Orleans and Gulfport, Miss., receives 5,000 payments a month and often receives as many as 800 payments on peak days, such as utility bill due dates, the Atlanta vendor said.
The remittance system is expected to improve processing speed and accuracy of check payments.
"We are increasing our communication mediums, focusing on community improvement projects and continually developing plans for a better future," John Autry, the city's information systems manager, said in the vendor's Tuesday press release. "Processing payments was taking too much time, and Goldleaf is working with us to rectify that issue with a trusted, proven solution."
