MagTek Joins PCI Standards Council

The Carson, Calif., payment hardware provider MagTek Inc. has joined the PCI Security Standards Council.

MagTek said Monday that it wanted to become a member of the Wakefield, Mass., trade group to play a part in developing the rules for protecting consumer payment account information.

The council maintains the PCI standards, which the major card networks have endorsed.

Annmarie Hart, MagTek's president and chief executive, said in a press release that it is committed to offering "technologies and products that enable secure payment transactions for the benefit of retailers, financial institutions, and, ultimately, the consumers."
