Smart Transaction Systems Inc. of Boulder, Colo., is using technology from another Boulder firm, Mocapay Inc., to develop a mobile version of its gift cards and loyalty cards.
Mocapay said last week that Smart Transaction Systems expects to begin testing a system this year that will let consumers make gift card purchases with their mobile phones.
The system also will let participating merchants electronically deliver targeted marketing offers to consumers' mobile devices, Mocapay said.
Its mobile technology is designed to let consumers make transactions with phones that have been linked to various types of payment accounts.
