MOL to Distribute Facebook Credits
MOL Global Bhd. has agreed to resell Facebook credits, simplifying the purchasing process for people in Asia who want to buy virtual goods, such as online games and applications.
The Malaysian online payments provider said last week that its MOL AccessPortal Bhd. subsidiary has become a payment provider for Facebook Credits.
The deal, which takes effect this month, means users of the Facebook Inc. social networking website can buy credits using MOLPoints on Facebook and on MOL's website, MOL.com., without entering their payment details separately for each application.
Facebook and MOL also will offer cobranded prepaid gift cards at outlets in Malaysia and Singapore that consumers can use to purchase Facebook Credits.
MOL Global also owns the Friendster Inc. social network, which has 115 million members worldwide. MOL handles over 60 million transactions annually worth $200 million, according to the company.
