Morgan Keegan & Co., the securities brokerage arm of Regions Financial Corp., said it has hired Michael J. Tierney to be the managing director in its New York investment banking office.

Mr. Tierney was a public finance vice president at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York. Morgan Keegan is based in Memphis.
The hiring, announced Monday, came after Morgan Keegan's purchase of Shattuck Hammond Partners, a New York investment banking and financial advisory firm specializing in the health-care services industry. The deal closed in June.
