Murphy Taking RevolutionCards

Revolution Money Inc. said Murphy Oil USA Inc. is now accepting the RevolutionCard at its service stations.

Murphy customers who use the card for gasoline purchases receive a discount of 3 cents a gallon, the St. Petersburg, Fla., card company said last week.

Bill Deichler, Murphy's manager of business development, said in a Revolution press release that the card's fee structure enables his company to offer the discounts. "We save money each time a customer uses a card on the RevolutionCard network," as opposed to using other brands' cards, "and we pass those savings on to the customer."

As part of a promotion that will begin next month, new cardhoders can save another $10 on each of their first five gas purchases of $25 or more made with the cards at Murphy stations.

Murphy has made other efforts to reduce its card processing expenses. Last year it began using National Payment Card LLC's automated clearing house payment system. After providing National Payment Card with a driver's license and checking account data, consumers can use their license and a PIN to initiate payments at the point of sale.
