National City Of Ind. Hires Bank One's Vea As Chief Exec

Ind., has named Bank One Corp. executive Michael T. Vea as chairman and chief executive officer.

Michael F. Elliott, his predecessor, resigned in February for personal reasons, the company said. Robert D. Vance, a National City director, filled in on an interim basis.

Mr. Vea, an 18-year banking veteran, became president and CEO of Bank One Cincinnati in 1995. Under his direction the bank's assets grew from $400 million to $2.5 billion.

Before joining Bank One, Mr. Vea was senior vice president at Star Banc Corp. in Cincinnati. Earlier he had worked at First Chicago Corp. and Chase Manhattan Bank in Chicago.
