NCR to Resell Remote Deposit Scanners

NCR Corp. has agreed to resell document scanners from Document Capture Technologies Inc. that are used for remote deposit capture services.

The Duluth, Ga., automated teller machine company said Tuesday that it would offer the San Jose scanner maker's machines to its bank customers along with its Aptra Passport software. The banks will be able to offer the scanners and software to small businesses.

Document Capture markets the scanners under the name DocketPort, but NCR plans to rebrand them as NCR Personal Scanners.

The machines will let small-business owners scan the front and back of checks and send the images to their banks for deposit.

Bill Nuti, NCR's chairman and chief executive, said in a press release that the agreement will "provide a cost-effective RDC option to our customers" and that his company expects "adoption to accelerate as broad acceptance of RDC begins to take hold."
