NCsoft Has System for Cash in Games

The online computer game developer NCsoft Corp. has developed a micro-transaction system that it plans to use in several of its games.

Each U.S. dollar will buy 100 NCcoin, the Korean company's virtual currency, which can be used to purchase items within the company's games. The system will be available first in NCsoft's Exteel game.

The company, which runs its North American operations from Austin, publishes several other games, including Lineage, City of Heroes, and Guild Wars games. It did not say which other games would use the NCcoin payment system.

"Micro-transactions are a growing part of the online gaming industry, and NCcoin will allow us to support micro-transaction games efficiently," Chris Chung, NCsoft's president for North America, said in a press release Wednesday.
