N.D. Bank Adopts Text-Message Tool

State Bank and Trust in Fargo, N.D., is offering text-message banking services to its customers, according to a Wednesday release from the mobile banking technology vendor ClairMail Inc.

State Bank and Trust, a $1.9 billion-asset unit of State Bankshares Inc. in Fargo, started its goSBT Txt Banking service in November to supply secure banking and alerts to any account, including checking, savings, money market, certificates of deposit, and loans, the Novato, Calif., vendor said.

"We evaluated our mobile banking options and concluded that ClairMail's comprehensive and secure platform for two-way mobile banking provided the best value for our customers," Richard Solberg, State Bank and Trust's president and chief executive, said in ClairMail's announcement.

State Bank and Trust plans soon to introduce alerts on low balances, checks clearing, withdrawals that exceed customer-defined amounts, statement availability, and transaction confirmations.

ClairMail said users of its system average more than 12 mobile banking transactions per person per month, including balance inquiries and the like, and that customer banks report adoption by more than 25% of their online customers, compared with an industry average of less than 3%.
