American Express Co. has added a cardholder perk designed to make spending on its cards worthwhile for a broad swath of small business owners: advertising credits on Facebook.
June 29
American Express Co. has launched a new business credit card that places further emphasis on ad spending.
The card will let users earn triple rewards points for airline purchases and double rewards points for advertising, gas and shipping expenses. Amex said Monday that it intends to market the card largely to companies that advertise or intend to advertise their products and services online.
Roughly 75% of business owners recently surveyed plan to do some form of online marketing in 2011, Amex said in its press release.
The new card builds on Amex's recent efforts to attract small-business owners through their online advertising spending. In June, Amex began letting customers redeem rewards for advertising credits on Facebook Inc.'s social networking site.
