Obama Renominates Diamond to Fed

WASHINGTON — The White House on Wednesday renominated Peter Diamond as a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve.

Diamond was nominated by President Obama in April 2010, but was not confirmed after Republicans raised objections he was unqualified to serve as a Fed governor. Diamond is an expert in Social Security and taxation.

If confirmed by the Senate, Diamond, who is a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, would hold a term that expires in 2014.
