OCC Appoints New Head of Thrift Oversight

WASHINGTON — The Office of Comptroller of the Currency on Tuesday announced the appointment of Donna Deale as deputy comptroller for thrift supervision.

Deale transferred last year to the OCC from the Office of Thrift Supervision following that agency's closure under the Dodd-Frank Act.

She is now responsible for leading the OCC's effort to integrate the supervision of federal savings associations with its bank supervisory work, the agency said in a press release.

"Donna brings deep experience supervising federal savings associations to this position," Comptroller Thomas Curry said in a statement. "She will be a valuable member of the OCC leadership team as we complete the integration of overseeing federal savings associations."

Deale, who had been serving as a senior operations risk expert in the OCC's chief national bank examiner's office, succeeds Timothy Ward.

Ward has joined the governance, risk and regulatory services practice at Deloitte & Touche LLP.
