Last week PayPal announced that its mobile service now works seamlessly with its parent's mobile auction site and services.

"With the launch of eBay Mobile's new site, you can use your PayPal account to pay for items directly from your mobile phone," Sandra Lin, who works on PayPal's mobile team, wrote in a posting on the unit's blog.

Access to eBay's mobile site is free. In addition, the auction company also has a phone-bidding service that notifies people when an auction is about to close, so they can make last-minute bids, as well as a text-message alert feature that lets users know when they have been outbid and which costs users 25 cents a message.
