The Sunnyvale, Calif., vendor said Monday that Security Bank plans to use the WebFort software to verify business customers' identities online.

WebFort uses Adobe Inc.'s widely available Flash software to create a virtual token that sits on customers' desktop and works behind the scenes when they access Security Bank's Web site.

The software "is ideal for us, as we are able to protect our corporate customers' online identities without changing their experience with our Web site or the way they log in to our banking services," Numeriano Amparo, Security Bank's corporate transaction banking head, said in an Arcot press release.

Arcot says its system is more affordable than hardware tokens that generate a one-time password; many observers say the tokens offer strong security but are expensive to distribute.
