Troy, a division of Pierce Companies Inc., a manufacturer of magnetic ink character recognition printing systems, has introduced a desktop laser printer for branches or home offices. It produce new account checks, payment books, and any other document requiring MICR -- complete with the customer's name and address.
In addition to the MICR coding, the system provides overlays, logos, graphics, fixed and variable text, and signatures. It prints at a rate of 10 pages a minute. It can trace the origin of unauthorized or fradulently issued documents, using proprietary technology.
Depending on the number of options selected, the printer costs about $5,000.
