The merchant processor Pipeline Data Inc. has acquired PayPassage Inc., a provider of payment processing software.
Pipeline Data, of Alpharetta, Ga., announced the purchase Monday but did not give a price. It said that adding the PayPassage technology would help it attract new retail clients, including online merchants and catalog operators.
PayPassage was founded by the same team that sold Paynet Systems Inc., another payment processing technology firm, to Pipeline Data in 2006.
Jack Chevalier, PayPassage's president, said in a Pipeline press release that selling his company "completes another milestone in our relationship with Pipeline. The 2006 Paynet merger was a great success for all parties and created a starting point for us to build another large merchant portfolio company."
