Piper Hires for N.Y. Fixed-Income

U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray of Minneapolis said Thursday it is expanding its fixed-income municipal trading and sales capabilities in New York and adding resources in Minneapolis and Chicago.

To staff the expanded New York office, the company said it has hired John Calia to be a managing director and the head of municipal secondary trading. He joins the firm from Lehman Brothers in New York, where he worked 19 years in the municipal bond trading department. Most recently at Lehman, he was a managing director and head of municipal bond trading.

In addition, Piper Jaffray said it had hired John Donovan in February to be a managing director in municipal institutional sales in New York.

He joined Piper from J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.
