PNC's treasurer, Walter West, to retire.

PITTSBURGH -- PNC Bank Corp. announced that its treasurer, Walter L. West, will retire May 31 after 28 years with the company.

Mr. West, 51, is treasurer of the holding company and executive vice president of asset and liability management for its lead bank in Pittsburgh. He had been responsible for asset and liability management, corporate funding, loan portfolio purchases, and securitization since 1987 and previously headed a predecessor of PNC Securities Corp.

Thomas H. O'Brien, PNC chairman and chief executive officer, said Randall C. King, 35, senior vice president, will assume Mr. West's responsibilities. Mr. King has been with the bank 11 years and previously worked for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

Mr. King will report to Joe R. Irwin, executive vice president and chief investment officer.
