ProAmérica Bank Appoints New President, CEO

ProAmérica Bank (PMRA) in Los Angeles has named a 25-year banking veteran as its president and chief executive after a yearlong search.

L. Bruce Mills Jr. will lead the bank's day-to-day operations, the $128 million-asset company said Tuesday.

"The financial acumen and community bank experience Bruce brings will strengthen ProAmérica's ability to navigate the turbulent economy and will serve as an important asset in the bank's consultative model particularly focused on entrepreneurs, nonprofits and professionals," Maria Contreras-Sweet, ProAmérica's executive chairwoman, said in a news release.

Mills was most recently president and chief operating officer of San Diego Private Bank in La Jolla, where, the release says, he helped to improve asset quality, profitability and internal controls. He was the president and CEO of Partners Bank of California before that.
