Program answers 401(k) questions.

Administrators of mutual funds, insurance plans, and other benefit plans who need to educate employees on the advantages of 401(k) plans can use a new interactive computer-based program that answers questions regarding plan rules and potential retirement earnings.

Called the 401K Planner, it was jointly developed by two Mill Valley, Calif., software vendors, the SoftAd Group and Bright Ideas Inc. The software, which features a data base tool that is easily customized, lets employees answer their own questions and get financial calculations using an office or home computer. Information is available in such areas as investment fundamentals, personal retirement needs, corporate plan rules, available investment products, personal risk assessments, and asset allocation.
