Regulation O

Regulation O - [12 CFR 215 - Loans to Insiders of Member Banks] - governs lending to insiders - defined as executive officers, principal shareholders, directors, and the related interests of those three groups, of a bank, bank holding company, and any bank subsidiary of a bank holding company. Prohibits lending to insiders on preferential terms. Places even stricter limitations on extensions of credit to executive officers of the bank itself. Requires certain reports and disclosures, plus prior approvals of the extensions of credit, in some instances.
