R.I. Bank Hires ControlScan for PCI Help

Washington Trust Bancorp Inc. announced it is working with ControlScan Inc. to help the Westerly, R.I., banking company's merchant clients meet the requirements of the Payment Card Industry data security standard.

The PCI standard is a set of network security rules for companies that handle payment card data. The Atlanta vendor's software lets merchants analyze and validate their compliance with the standard.

"Our collective goal is to help the Washington Trust merchant community become secure, thereby ensuring that they meet all private and public regulatory requirements," Joan Herbig, ControlScan's chief executive, said in a press release last week.
