Santander Chief Still Looking for Deals

Spain's Banco Santander SA will continue to look for acquisition opportunities after its series of purchases made during the depth of the global financial crisis, Chief Executive Alfredo Saenz said Tuesday.

In the United States, Santander, the euro zone's biggest bank by market value, owns the Philadelphia lender Sovereign Bank.

"In addition to growing organically, we're taking advantage of the crisis to purchase assets at attractive prices," Saenz said at a Madrid banking conference. Santander has, during the crisis of the last two years, roughly doubled its business in the U.K., Germany and Brazil.
