Short Takes: Chicago Consultancy Principal Quits Post

Dennis Dolego, a principal at Chicago consulting firm Financial Research Corp., has quit unexpectedly.

"I'm a free agent now," said Mr. Dolego, 43, who resigned last Tuesday.

Mr. Dolego's resignation comes two months after Financial Research was acquired by Boston Institutional Group Inc., a Boston-based company that provides marketing and distribution services for bank mutual funds, brokerages, and investment advisers. He declined to comment on why he left.

Mr. Dolego was executive editor and the primary writer of Financial Research's The Monitor, a monthly report that provides mutual fund company market share data. He also wrote a quarterly publication, Market Analyst Report, which reviews market trends of the mutual fund industry.

He joined the company in 1993 and worked closely with T. Neil Bathon, Financial Research's president. Mr. Bathon, who founded the company in 1987, said he has not yet replaced Mr. Dolego.
