Short Takes: Fifth Third Renames Three Money Funds

Fifth Third Bancorp of Cincinnati is renaming three of its mutual funds to help investors more readily identify them as money market funds.

The new names are the Fifth Third Prime Money Market Fund, the Fifth Third U.S. Money Market Fund, and the Fifth Third Government Money Market Fund, a spokeswoman said.

The funds had been called the Fifth Third Commercial Paper Fund, the Fifth Third U.S. Treasury Obligations Fund, and the Fifth Third Government Cash Reserves Fund, respectively.

The Fifth Third Tax Exempt Money Market Fund will keep its name, the spokeswoman said.

There are 16 Fifth Third Funds, with $4.8 billion of assets under management.
