Short Takes: Fleet Renames Quick & Reilly Market Maker

Fleet Financial Group, Boston, has renamed the Nasdaq market maker it acquired by buying Quick & Reilly Group.

Nash Weiss & Co., the over-the-counter equity trading firm, will be known as USCC Trading and be a division of Fleet Securities Inc., a spokeswoman said last week.

The USCC moniker is derived from U.S. Clearing, a stock clearing firm Fleet also acquired through its purchase of Quick & Reilly, she said.

Fleet bought Quick & Reilly in the first quarter.

The firm was renamed because Ron Nash and Ron Weiss, the founding partners, left in April to "pursue other interests," the spokeswoman said.
