Short Takes: Lincoln National Starts China Sales Partnership

Life insurer Lincoln National Corp. has formed a partnership with a Chinese company to eventually sell life insurance in the world's most populous country.

Lincoln National has signed a letter of intent to form a joint venture partnership with Ping An Insurance Co., one of the largest insurance companies in China.

The Fort Wayne, Ind. company is awaiting a license from the Chinese government to sell products, a Lincoln spokesman said.

Lincoln National has maintained representative offices in China since 1994 and has been extensively involved in the development of the insurance business there. Lincoln National has sponsored seminars, research projects, and major training efforts for Chinese executives in China and the United States.
