Short Takes: Securities Trade Group Adds Retirement Exec

The Securities Industry Association has created a post to help promote retirement legislation and regulations.

Elizabeth Liess, the director of retirement policy, joined the securities industry trade group April 12. She is a member of the government affairs team and works on issues involving Social Security, savings incentives, and pensions.

The post was created partly because the large baby boom population is nearing retirement, a spokesman said. These issues are "going to be of increasing significance to everybody," he said.

Ms. Liess, 30, previously was majority counsel to the Senate Special Committee on Aging.
