Smart Voucher in Canada

Smart Voucher Ltd. of the U.K. is expanding into Canada.

The London prepaid voucher company, which is more commonly known as Ukash, will begin offering its services in Ontario this week, and expects them to eventually be available throughout the country.

Ukash is available in 16 countries, mostly in Europe. A representative said that this is its first foray into North America.

The company sells prepaid vouchers that can be used to make purchases online.

People who do not have payment cards, or do not want to use them online, can purchase the vouchers and use them to make purchases at participating merchants.

Ukash expects to be operating in 20 countries by 2010, the representative said.
