The Southside Bancshares Inc. unit, which has been using Jack Henry's Banker II software for a decade, is upgrading to its SilverLake software, the Monett, Mo., vendor said Tuesday.

Keith Miller, Southside Bancshares' senior vice president for information technology, said in a Jack Henry press release that his $2.1 billion-asset company realized "we have simply outgrown Banker II, and that we are facing a core conversion."

Southside selected SilverLake in part because it uses jXchange technology, an open standard that will make it easy to install other banking applications from Jack Henry and third-party vendors, Mr. Miller said.
