Resource Bank of Virginia Beach, Va., has hired T.A. Grell Jr. to be president and chief operating officer.
He succeeded Lawrence N. Smith, who remains president and chief executive officer of the $230 million-asset parent company, Resource Bankshares, and CEO of the bank.
Mr. Grell was a senior vice president at Wachovia Bank where he was responsible for commercial loan production in eastern Virginia. He has 28 years' banking experience in the Hampton Roads, Va., area.
He joined Wachovia in December 1997 when it bought his employer, Central Fidelity Bank of Richmond, Va., where he was executive vice president and commercial loan manager.
