MADRID -- Banco Bilbao Vizcaya said its international arm has issued $248 million of new 8% preferred shares in New York, up from the original offer of $200 million, with about $70 million going to Spanish investors.

The Spanish bank had made two previous preferred-share issues in New York - $345 million in 1991 and $100 million in 1992.
