Sterling Bancorp in New York has priced its public offering and increased the number of shares the company will offer.

The $2.1 billion-asset company plans to sell 7.5 million shares at $8 each and increase the number offered to underwriters to 1.125 million, it announced Monday. Proceeds are to be used for general corporate purposes.
