The Atlanta banking technology vendor said last week that the $12.1 billion-asset Sterling is integrating its Teller Deposit Automation software with a core account processing system from Open Solutions Inc. of Glastonbury, Conn., along with image capture software from Goldleaf Financial Solutions Inc. of Brentwood, Tenn., and image quality and image recognition software developed by the Israeli vendor Orbotech Ltd.

The S1 software, which automatically reads and captures transaction information and check images at the teller window, is designed to reduce transaction time, and by eliminating some of the tellers' routine tasks, make it easier for them to interact with customers.

The S1 imaging technolgoy "really changes the face of retail banking," Kade G. Peterson, a senior vice president at Sterling Savings, said in an S1 press release.
