SunTrust Promotes Commercial Specialty Head to Treasurer

SunTrust Banks in Atlanta has promoted its head of commercial specialty segments to corporate treasurer.

Kevin Blair will report to chief financial officer Aleem Gillani, starting July 1. The position was made vacant when former treasurer Paul Burdiss left in March to become chief financial officer at Zions Bancorp. in Salt Lake City.

Blair will supervise the $189.9 billion-asset SunTrust's liquidity, capital management, investment portfolio and balance-sheet strategy. As head of commercial specialty segments, Blair led auto dealer, insurance premium financing and Small Business Administration lending. Blair, who has worked at SunTrust for 17 years, previously headed SunTrust's Georgia/North Florida region.

Blair "brings a formidable understanding of how treasury and the business can work together," Gillani said in a news release. Gillani filled in as treasurer after Burdiss's departure.
