Toronto-Dominion's U.S. bank is slowly carving out a wider wedge of the tumultuous market for retailers' credit cards.

TD Retail Card Services has agreed to create and administer the private-label credit card program for Canadian furniture retailer Bombay & Co.
The Mahwah, N.J., unit of TD Bank will direct all aspects of the program for Bombay & Co.'s 50 stores in Canada. The credit card will offer customers a full menu of deferred interest and equal pay programs.
Bombay & Co., which was founded in 1975 as a mail-order business based in New Orleans, was acquired in February 2008 by a family-owned company in Canada. Most of its retail locations in the U.S. have been closed, but the company does sell its products through other U.S. retailers.
